1. Surface Preparation
The surface must be clean, dry, stable, flat, and free of dust and grease.
Humidity level < 4%.
If leveling compound is used, wait until it is completely dry before installation.
2. Receiving and Handling
Upon delivery, stack the tiles in a slight staggered pattern to minimize the risk of breakage.
Never stack them completely flat without rigid spacers.
After unpacking, store the tiles flat on a stable surface.
3. Layout and Offset
For large format tiles (120×60 cm), the staggered pattern should be limited to between 20% and 30% of the tile length (i.e., between 24 and 36 cm).
Excessive offset puts stress on the grout lines and weakens the installation.
The ideal layout is an offset of approximately 1/4 (30 cm).
4. Minimum Recommended Joint Widths
Area
Minimum Joint Width
Interior
2 mm
Exterior
3 mm
These joints allow for the absorption of the material's natural expansion and movement.
5. Adhesive and Installation
Use an adhesive suitable for porcelain stoneware.
Apply adhesive to both the back of the tile and the substrate to ensure good adhesion, especially with this large format.
Apply the adhesive with a suitable notched trowel (8 to 10 mm notches).
Use tile spacers to ensure a consistent joint width (2 to 3 mm).
Lay the tiles according to the recommended layout.
6. Cutting
Use diamond tools for clean cuts and to prevent chipping.
7. Post-Installation Protection
Protect the surface with film or cardboard during the curing process.
Avoid impacts and sudden temperature changes.
8. Additional advice
Do not expose the installed surface to the elements during the curing process (at least 24-48 hours).
Regularly check the alignment and flatness during installation.
